January 2, 2014 - Wicked Awesome

January 2, 2014

Hello again, friends. First thing today I want to mention is that it's my husband, John's, birthday. This handsome man of mine turned twenty-seven today and I love him more and more every day. And while this year I didn't get to make him a cake on his birthday we did go out and have a wonderful evening. As it is, I'll make a cake for him later in the week if I get the chance or I'll make him cookies or some other type of sweet just for him. I know he'll enjoy them and really that's all that matters. I'm not big on the sweets but he always smiles when I make him cookies or something else sweet and I love that smile.

Today was, for lack of a better word, amazing. I'll preempt by saying that for Christmas my amazing husband got me two tickets to see a play that I've been dying to see for years now; Wicked. My other Christmas presents were fantastic but his really took the top this year. He knew I have been dying to see it for years now, since before we even started dating, and he helped me bring at least part of that dream to fruition. My original dream was to see Wicked performed at the Gershwin Theater on Broadway, and that is still my dream; however I'm happy to see it however and wherever possible. This showing was at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in Rhode Island. The theater was absolutely stunning, gilt and filigree everywhere, hues of golds, reds and blues. It was truly a breathtaking event all together. John even bought me a pendant (the picture above); the Limited Edition 10yr Anniversary pendant. I can't wait to get a decent chain to put it on!!

We even went out to dinner before the show as well. The original plan was to go out to one of our favorite Indian restaurants but when we drove by we found that it was closed. We were a tad upset, as we had seen that it was open on their website but we weren't going to let that ruin our night. Instead we went down the street to another of our favorite places to eat called 'Not Your Average Joe's'. The food there is always top quality and we get amazing service almost every time we go as well. John got meatloaf, which is one of his favorite dishes, and I got bolognese. I had actually never had bolognese before and I was pleasantly surprised; it was sweeter than I had thought it would be but all together it was still delicious.

It was a beautiful way to finish the day that started out beautiful as well with a simple walk in the snow with the dog and husband. And sorry today's (technically yesterday's) post is late. We only just recently got home and settled in!!

Until Tomorrow (technically later today),
Felicia
