January 4, 2014 - Fun With Friends

January 4, 2014

Today was a little harder to get up and actually go about doing things. It was my first day back to work after a vacation and it was rough to get back into the swing of things; especially in a job I find little to no joy in. But, get up I did and I even got out of the house to do some fun things with the help of John; his prodding can sometimes border on a pain in the ass but I know he has my best interest at heart. If it was up to me and me alone I'd probably stay holed up in the apartment and become a hermit and he helps make sure that I don't get lost in the hustle and bustle of the world around me.

So for today's adventures we went outside to play in the snow with our new friends and their son. Though I didn't go down myself, it was a blast watching everyone sledding and a couple of the dogs playing around. Speaking of, the adorable little pooch above is Arya, our friends' puppy. She's a tiny ball of energy and personality. A total love bug. But once one of the sleds got a gaping hole in it, we retired to our friends' apartment and had hot chocolate, laughter, hockey and crafts.

One of our new friends actually taught me how to make a dream catcher. It's one of those things that I've wanted to know how to make for so long and no one has ever been able to teach me, so I'm really thankful that she did. It's a lot easier then I thought it was going to be, to be honest. I can't wait to get all the supplies and actually try to make one on my own, without any help. I'm sure it's going to take me a few tries to get it just right but even still it's something new that I can't wait to try. Oh!! And I want to make a giant one! Not sure what I would do with it, but I think it would be awesome!! I'll have to make her as a 'thank you' for teaching me! Maybe a stipple drawing....maybe something else!!

Well, Until Tomorrow!!

January 3, 2014 - Winter Fun

January 3, 2014

I know technically this post is late, but the world got out of my hands and I accept that I got distracted so I forgot to type it up. I did remember to snap pictures though as well as I remembered to write my little positivity note and stick it into the jar before bed. I promised myself that I would try and get this post done before work today but seeing as I have to leave in about half an hour I'm pushing my limits. But, instead, on to yesterday.

Yesterday was interesting. For the last week John has been on paid vacation from work, which has been awesome, and yesterday was actually the first day all week that we didn't have to up and go anywhere or do anything. It's great to have things to do but at the same time it was really nice to just have a day where we could lounge around the apartment like vagabonds and do nothing. I highly recommend anyone who has had a stressful and/or trying week to give it a shot. It's like a major reset button.

The only thing we did do was we took the dog for a walk in the snow; which is absolutely beautiful by the way. It wasn't anything overly long, just the usual loop around the complex, but we did manage to stop at the 'dog run' and Falkor made a new little friend. Her name was Jager (with the weird accent, just like the booze.) And she was this hyper little thing that gave him a good run for his money by chasing him around the place.

What was really great was getting to see Falkor and how far he's come along when it comes to getting along with other dogs and even strange people for that matter. I know it's going to take even longer and it's something we will probably always be working on but he's such an amazing puppy and I love him to bits and pieces. Now if we can only get the apartment maintenance men to use pet friendly salt, we'd be in an even better place.

So, I have to go get ready for work, today's post will be typed and put up tonight afterwards. I'll leave you with the picture above of my beautiful Falkor playing in the snow!

Until Tomorrow (Or rather technically tonight!)

January 2, 2014 - Wicked Awesome

January 2, 2014

Hello again, friends. First thing today I want to mention is that it's my husband, John's, birthday. This handsome man of mine turned twenty-seven today and I love him more and more every day. And while this year I didn't get to make him a cake on his birthday we did go out and have a wonderful evening. As it is, I'll make a cake for him later in the week if I get the chance or I'll make him cookies or some other type of sweet just for him. I know he'll enjoy them and really that's all that matters. I'm not big on the sweets but he always smiles when I make him cookies or something else sweet and I love that smile.

Today was, for lack of a better word, amazing. I'll preempt by saying that for Christmas my amazing husband got me two tickets to see a play that I've been dying to see for years now; Wicked. My other Christmas presents were fantastic but his really took the top this year. He knew I have been dying to see it for years now, since before we even started dating, and he helped me bring at least part of that dream to fruition. My original dream was to see Wicked performed at the Gershwin Theater on Broadway, and that is still my dream; however I'm happy to see it however and wherever possible. This showing was at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in Rhode Island. The theater was absolutely stunning, gilt and filigree everywhere, hues of golds, reds and blues. It was truly a breathtaking event all together. John even bought me a pendant (the picture above); the Limited Edition 10yr Anniversary pendant. I can't wait to get a decent chain to put it on!!

We even went out to dinner before the show as well. The original plan was to go out to one of our favorite Indian restaurants but when we drove by we found that it was closed. We were a tad upset, as we had seen that it was open on their website but we weren't going to let that ruin our night. Instead we went down the street to another of our favorite places to eat called 'Not Your Average Joe's'. The food there is always top quality and we get amazing service almost every time we go as well. John got meatloaf, which is one of his favorite dishes, and I got bolognese. I had actually never had bolognese before and I was pleasantly surprised; it was sweeter than I had thought it would be but all together it was still delicious.

It was a beautiful way to finish the day that started out beautiful as well with a simple walk in the snow with the dog and husband. And sorry today's (technically yesterday's) post is late. We only just recently got home and settled in!!

Until Tomorrow (technically later today),
Felicia

January 1, 2014 - A New Start

January 1, 2014

My name is Felicia, and you've stumble onto my little project.

For the past couple of years I've gotten myself into a down swing and have found myself focusing on the negative in the world around me. More often than naught I've gone so far as to dwell on the negative things that happen around my life instead of letting go of them; remembering that they are just fleeting moments.

So, for my New Year's resolution I've decided that I want to live my life with a more positive outlook; and I've already set about making the changes in my life to see that goal come to fruition. And I've even dragged my husband into it with me. Sitting on our dinning room table are two vases, one with green gimp wrapped around the neck and another with blue gimp wrapped around it's neck; a virtual his and hers so to speak. I'm calling these our positivity jars. I'm sure that as the year goes on the decorations will change but the purpose behind them will not. Every night, before bed, both my husband and I will write down something positive and fold it up and put it in our respective jar; it can be some event that happened or some thought or anything, so long as it is positive.

I've also decided to do a modified 365project. For those of you who don't know what the 365 project is, it is where you document a year of your life by taking at least one picture a day. If you are interested in taking part in this project yourself you can go here and sign up; it's free and it's quite fun as well. I took part in it a few different years. This year, however, I'm going to be posting a picture a day here along with a post. Just something to remind myself, and whoever reads, that there are always positive things that happen every day and that we only have to open our eyes to see them. Something to remind me that not everything in the world is negative or bad.

So, as for today's picture. Today my husband, John, and I went hiking with out dog, Falkor. There is something so peaceful and beautiful about being out in the woods, surrounded by nature. It took a little convincing, I mostly just pouted at him a little bit, but John agreed to a couple pictures like this and this was the best one. What do I see when I look at this picture? I see love and happiness, youth and eternity all in one picture. He is my positive message for today; and I think it's a great way to start the year.

Until Tomorrow,
Felicia
